Remote Sensing

DROPLET TECHNOLOGIES can offer remote sensing projects using hyperspectral and multispectral scanners. Through our long relationship with an East Coast aircraft operator we can assure the best technology, service and competitive prices. Because the operator is located in the northeastern US, small projects generally will be located in the northeastern states. However, aircraft relocation is possible for larger projects. This operator uses helicopters for low and slow flights, which give sub-meter resolution and fixed-wing aircraft for higher altitudes.

Multispectral and hyperspectral scanners differ in the way that they sample the electromagnetic spectrum. Multispectral scanners are often used to detect hot objects such as overheating components in an electricity distribution grid or mapping the periphery of forest fires and ensuring that any hot spots are identified and mapped to avoid later flare-ups.

Hyperspectral scanners sample a wide range of frequencies from infrared to visible and sometimes into the ultraviolet zone. Sampling many short discrete frequency bands of the spectrum produces distinct signatures that can be correlated with the distinct reflection of many specific materials, such as distinct weed plant species or a surface-deposited mineral outcrop.
